Closet walls and counter

So we braved the blustering snow and faced the absolute white-outs to go work on the bus yesterday. God had His hand of protection around us because there were times we couldn't see the road because of the total white-out, and could only follow the little bit of grass poking above the snow along 1 edge of the road. In total yesterday we got an additional 6" at the bus, but only 5" at our house. That brings our total snow accumulation, at our house, for the winter at 101inches. Yes that's 101" or 8foot 5inches of snow. (I measure and record every snow we get above 1/4", and it started Nov 16th, 2016) WOW! lots of snow this winter! Anyways, I digress, back to the bus.

We finished off the kitchen counter (we are going to look at Habitat for Humanity Store in Lewiston for a counter top.... hopefully they have one that is 2ft wide, 9ft long and has a 2ftx1ft "extension" or "L" at the end, but we will probably end up having to make one...but that's fine, we made our 4ftx5ft island counter top in our house, and it turned out nice).
I know the "L" part framing may look a bit funny, but we over-built that part to help support when Lucas or TJ decides to jump up and sit on the counter. The right end of the counter will be supported by the boys' bunk-beds, so no floor support there. No, the counter isn't completely done yet, we need to figure out doors and drawers.

We put the walls up for the closets, and we used Cedar 1x6's that we got from Joe (Thanks again man!) about 6-7 months ago, maybe longer. And I tell you what, getting the curve of the roof along with the metal pop-out thingy/part above the windows transferred to the wood was fun! Shanesta came up with the idea of using a piece of newspaper held up by the roof by me while she ran her fingernail along the joint of the paper and roof. That gave us the imprint of the curve on the paper, which we cut out and used as a stencil. Worked Great! Great idea Babe! By that time, it was getting cold in the bus even with the heater on, so Shanesta went in to warm up while TJ stayed and finished helping me. It didn't take long with the sun going down before we were watching our breath while working. Time to call it a day.
We really like the look of the Cedar and it smells SO good, I'd like to "face" the boys' bed and the couch with it as well, but that depends on if we have enough and what it costs!!! We really like it also because it doesn't weigh much compared to other woods, and on an RV weight is everything! The heavier it is, the less miles-per-gallon you get.

Anyways, here's what it looks like so far, we won't be working on it today, it's that wonderful day of the month again, where Bill gets all our money! One of these days, I'd like to be Bill.....

God Bless y'all!
